1) Developing guidelines for sub-district level resource centers in India - Conceptualization of a framework for school support and improvement and development of 5 approaches which could be used as levers to strengthen schools within the country.
2) Assisting MHRD in developing guidelines for the 12th plan for Teacher Education - Relook at the initial guidelines set for the DIETs and modify them/develop new guidelines more aligned with the current context. PPED also provided suggestions and inputs on development of guidelines for other institutions engaged in TE ( IASEs, CTEs, SCERTs).
3) Developing a comprehensive framework for Recognition of Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in India - The team developed revised guidelines and formats to audit/inspect Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) across the country. It prepared a Standards driven inspection framework which could guide the recognition of TEIs across the country.
4) Developing a road map for strengthening Education Resource Centers in Karnataka - The project was geared towards assessing how institutions such as DIETs, IASEs, CTEs, DSERT, etc were performing with reference to state objectives, NCF, NCFTE, RTE and MHRD XIIth guidelines through an organizational analysis framework. PPED also evolved strategies for organisational development and presented a road-map on how these change management strategies could be implemented.
5) Planning and hosting a 2 day State level seminar on strengthening Curriculum in Teacher Education, in collaboration with KKCE (an institution offering B.Ed) - A state level seminar was conceptualized to promote reflection on the topics of curriculum and encourage sharing of good practices. Six themes were identified and over 80 participants attended the 2 day seminar. The seminar was conducted in April 2013.
6) Interactions with MSCERT- Workshop on PSTE and In-Service Teacher training in Maharashtra - MSCERT conducted a workshop of PSTE in consultation with PPED. The workshop, conducted in Pune, attended by over 15 organisations including DIETs, presented the work being done in Teacher Education by different organizations and discussed key practices which are effective in strengthening TE. PPED later also assisted MSCERT in revisiting the Mathematics curriculum and identifying resource people to conduct Mathematics trainings for teachers.
7) Supporting academic research and thinking through Study Circles - The study circle is an open invitation to people (educators, student-teachers, professionals from NGOs in education) who meet to discuss a common theme, topic or an interesting article related to education. The article is selected and sent in advance and each participant reads the article before coming to the study. The sessions are open to everyone and there is no fee. So far, 6 study circle sessions have been conducted by PPED.
8) Conducting Program Reviews for SRTT - PPED has conducted reviews of programs funded by SRTT. Reviews have been conducted at organizations/programs such as Pravah, Karnataka Education Network, DeenaBandhu Teacher Resource Centre, DERC and CfBT.
9) Conducting Joint Review Mission on TE in Madhya Pradesh - PPED has also participated in the Joint Review Mission (JRM) for Teacher Education in Madhya Pradesh. The JRM was conducted in February 2013. The JRM engages a set of professionals from different institutions who visit DIETs, IASE, CTEs, schools and SCERT to understand the effectiveness of TE in the state and its possible connections with the schooling.
